Licensee Sending a Full-Time Employee to an Approved Educational Event
Licensees can earn one half the approved CEU credit for sending an unlicensed full-time employee to an approved educational event.  No more than five (5) CEUs may be granted per year for this CE category and no yearly carry-over will be allowed.  The courses eligible for this category will be directly related to the technical knowledge needed to design, install, and service irrigation systems.  Trade Show attendance, in-house training, and business training will not apply.

Attending an Educational Short Course, Seminar or Technical Conference
These can be sponsored by local, state, regional or national irrigation or green industry associations or societies, universities, colleges or technical institutes, federal or state agencies, manufactures, distributors, or professional associations and businesses. One hour of training equals one (1) CEU for irrigation related (as determined by the intent of Chapter 89G) programs. Related programs will be awarded one half (0.5) CEU for each contact hour with a maximum of four (4) CEUs from related programs that can be used for any one year renewal. An hour of training is a minimum of a 50 minute class. Refreshment and meal breaks are not considered training time.

Attending Irrigation and Green Industry Trade Shows, Field Days and Tours
These can be conducted by local, state, regional, or national associations or societies, universities,colleges or technical institutes, federal or state agencies, and green industry organizations. One fourth (0.25) CEU per hour of attendance. Maximum of two (2) CEUs used for any one year.

Attaining Additional Certifications
Credit for receiving additional irrigation certifications either at another level or in another specialty will satisfy all ten (10) CEUs required in a renewal year for each examination successfully completed.  Carryover is not allowed.  Examples of this would be CIC, CID, CLIA, CGIA, CWLM-L or CLT.  Two (2) CEUs will be given for obtaining certified plant professional or other certifications from related industries.

Completing an Irrigation or Business Course from a University, College or Technical Institute
Completion of an irrigation or business course through class attendance or on line will be awarded three (3) CEUs per credit hour.

Judging at an Irrigation Competition
These can be sponsored by local, state, regional or national irrigation or green industry associations or societies, universities, colleges or technical institutes or federal or state agencies. Judging will be awarded one half (0.5) CEU per hour of judging. Maximum of two (2) CEUs may be used in any one year.

Teaching at an Irrigation or Business Short Course or Seminar
One (1) CEU per hour of instruction.  Even though an instructor might teach the same material several times in different locations, credit is given each time the material is presented.

Teaching an Irrigation Course at a University, College or Technical Institute
All regularly scheduled semester or quarter type irrigation courses with a minimum of three (3) credit hours are included. One (1) CEU is earned for each credit hour taught for the first time an instructor teaches the course. For each subsequent teaching of the same course, half the numbers of CEUs are earned. A maximum of eight (8) irrigation CEUs can be submitted each year.  Related courses may include soil, water and plant physiology.

Teaching an In-House Irrigation Training Course or Green Industry Training Course
These courses will normally be conducted by irrigation industry manufacturers, distributors, dealers or a licensed irrigation contractor for their individual company.  The course outline must be submitted with the Continuing Education Application. One (1) CEU for each hour of instruction.

Attending an In-House Irrigation Training Course or Green Industry Training Course
These courses will normally be conducted by irrigation industry manufacturers, distributors, dealers or a licensed irrigation contractor for their individual company.  The course outline must be submitted with the Continuing Education Application. One (1) CEU for each hour of instruction. A maximum of five (5) in-house training CEUs are allowed per year.

Attending Business Courses or Seminars
A minimum of two (2) CEUs are required in this category each year. Attending a business or industry related course or seminar that is directly related to the management of your business. One (1) CEU will be awarded for each contact hour with a maximum of four (4) CEUs used in any one year.

Items for Which the CEU Committee will Determine Credits to be Awarded
Presenting an irrigation paper to local, state, regional or national irrigation or green industry associations or societies, universities, colleges or technical institutes, federal or state agencies or professional associations. Writing irrigation books or sections of irrigation books, writing irrigation articles for professional publications or magazines, writing reference manuals, questions for certification examinations or online irrigation or business courses not sponsored by a university or college.

Board Service within the Irrigation or Green Industry
Board service in the irrigation or green industry will count for five (5) CEUs, and may be used for either irrigation or business credits but cannot be carried over.
