Application for Irrigation Contractor License – this is the application you must complete in order to sit for the Irrigation Licensing Exam or to apply for reciprocity.
Application for Corporate Irrigation Contractor License – this application should be completed after passing the exam, if your company is a corporation, LLC or partnership. A corporate license is a requirement of NC General Statute §89G.
Client Verification Form – Part of the exam application process, is to prove three years of irrigation experience. A minimum of three client verifications are required or may be combined with an employer verification.
Employer Verification Form – may be used in place of, or in combination with the client verification, as needed to prove three years of irrigation experience.
Confidential Reference Information Form – As part of the exam application process, three confidential references are required. At least one of the three must be completed by one of the following licensed professionals: Irrigation Contractor, General Contractor, Plumber, Landscape Architect, Professional Engineer. The other two references should be completed by someone unrelated that will vouch for your character. This individual must not be a fellow employee or your employer.
Surety Bond Form – in order to complete the licensing process once you have passed the exam, you are required to obtain a $10,000 Surety Bond or a $10,000 irrevocable letter of credit from a bank. The Surety Bond must be completed by a Bonding company and the ORIGINAL Bond must be signed by either the licensee or principal of the company depending on the circumstances as listed below, and then returned to the Board’s office along with the Power of Attorney.
- A Licensed Sole Proprietor may apply for a bond under their individual name, their company name, or both and is the required signatory. If the company name is listed on the bond and the company name changes, a rider from the bonding company is required indicating the name change by either removing the name of the company or adding the new company name. If the individual goes to work for another company, a rider from the the bonding company is required to either remove or change the company name on the bond. If the company name is removed the individual could then contract or construct irrigation under their own name as well as for the company that employs them. Another option when going to work for another company is to cancel your bond and have your name listed under your employer’s bond. This option does not allow you to contract or construct irrigation on your off time. If you have employees that are also licensed, and are paying for their coverage, the bond should be in the name of the company with all licensees listed including yourself.
- A corporation, LLC, or partnership must apply under the company name with the licensee(s) listed on the bottom. If the company is paying for the coverage of all of the licensed employees, then each name would be listed. A rider from the Bonding company is required when adding or deleting licensee names. The signatory of the bond is the owner or person authorized to act on behalf of the corporation who may or may not be a licensee.
Please Note: You will also need to obtain, and submit with your Surety Bond a Power of Attorney which should be supplied by your surety bond agent. (The Power of Attorney authorizes the agent to make restitution payments against the surety bond, when directed by the licensing board)
